The Partners are pleased to announce that our merger with Boxwell Road Surgery has been approved from 1st July 2018. The combined surgery will be known as Berkhamsted Group Practice. Our clinical systems will be combined on the afternoon of Friday 27th July and patients of both practices will be able to see a clinician at Boxwell Road or at Milton House from Monday 30th July.
Where normal working hours apply, Doctors appointments are available between 8.30 a.m. – 11.30 a.m. and3.30 p.m. – 6.00 p.m.
During extended opening hours appointments are normally available between:
Evenings (telephone) 6.30 and 7.30 p.m. and Saturdays 8.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.
Please note that extended opening hours are for patients with pre-bookable appointments – if you have an emergency during these times you must contact the out of hours service.
We have routine appointments available that can be booked up to 28 days in advance. If you wish to see a specific doctor then please say so when booking the appointment. This may affect availability for you because some doctors work on specific days only.
Appointments are available Monday to Friday with doctors and other clinicians for patients needing to be seen urgently on the day.
We also have nurse practitioners and an emergency care practitioner, who have been trained to treat certain illnesses. Appointments are available with them each weekday.
The nurse practitioners are able to prescribe where necessary. If they are unable to help during your appointment with her, then she will arrange for you to see a doctor.
Nurse appointments are available weekdays at various times between opening hours. Please ask at Reception for details.
Our doctors and nurses are happy to discuss a particular problem with you over the telephone and provide advice accordingly, hopefully avoiding the need for you to come to the surgery unnecessarily.
Telephone appointments are either at the end of the morning surgery or the evening surgery. You will need to confirm your contact details for the call.
However, the doctor may feel that you still need to come to the surgery, because not all problems can be dealt with over the telephone. Please speak with a member of the Patient Services Team if you require a telephone consultation.
In order to book a doctors' appointment using our online booking facility you first need to obtain your online registration details from the surgery.
To obtain this information please print off a form from here or write to our Patient Services Team or call in to the surgery to sign a form and these details will be issued to you.
Any family members will need their own log in details and will need to request these from us as well.
PLEASE NOTE: We can accept requests from parents on behalf of their children up to the age of 13. Older children will need to request the information for themselves.
Once you have received your details you need to register online by using this link.
Once completed you can log in each time you want to book an appointment
We prefer that patients are seen at the surgery but if it is impossible for you to attend due to illness, please telephone the surgery on 01442 874784 before 10.30 a.m.
Please note that a doctor may telephone you prior to visiting in order to ascertain the nature of the visit request.
One of our doctors or our emergency care practitioner may visit you.
The number of appointments missed by patient is of concern to us and as a result of the 2015 Patient Survey, we have been asked to publicise our policy on this matter.
An extract from our "Removal of Patients from our Practice" policy can be found here which gives details of how we will handle situations where appointments are frquently not kept.
