If you require any vaccinations for travel abroad, please visit the surgery with a completed Travel Risk Assessment form AT LEAST 6 weeks before you depart.
You will need to make a travel assessment appointment and bring the completed forms with you.
At this appointment the nurse will do a full risk assessment, and you will be asked to return for a further appointment/s for any vaccinations that are required.
It is essential you book your appointment at least 6 weeks before you travel – because you may need to attend one or more appointments with the practice nurse in order to receive vaccinations (where required). If you are not able to book at least 6 weeks before travelling you will have to attend a travel clinic elsewhere, for which we can provide you with a printout of your immunisations if needed.
We strongly recommend that you visit https://travelhealthpro.org.uk/ to check requirements for your destination.
Most vaccines have to be ordered because they are not a stock vaccine. Any second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
